NAHO: HULL CLEANING FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

Legal EPA-compliant hull cleaning, now delivered at port and in water

NAHO Is Revolutionizing Hull Cleaning for Commercial Vessels

NAHO (North American Hull Optimization, Inc.) is bringing advanced Vacu-Cart and Reclaim technology to North America, transforming hull cleaning for large (>100m LOA) commercial and military vessels.
Our groundbreaking in-water cleaning process captures over 99.5% of debris and biofouling and reduces service downtime by up to 80%, allowing vessels to be cleaned efficiently at port without leaving service.
With EPA regulations tightening significantly in 2026, NAHO’s approach ensures compliance, CO2 mitigation, cost savings, and operational convenience, averaging more than $750,000 in annual savings per vessel.

NAHO brings technology to surpass EPA regulations

The Vacu-Cart technology is fully operational. it is the only existing technology that captures 99.5+% of solids, including biofouling, during cleaning operations. There are currently a growing number of systems in service around the world. The system coming to San Francisco Bay in summer 2026 will be the first in the United States. Its performance metrics are IMO Approved, and are becoming part of the EPA's NPDES regulation for Northern California. It is the the only such technology to achieve near-total capture of biofouling, as verified by IMCO field testing.

By capturing 99+% of fouling, NAHO enables fully compliant in-water hull grooming at port. This allows cleaning to occur without discharge risk, without drydock, and without schedule disruption.

NAHO prevents fouling accumulation before it degrades performance. By optimizing hull efficiency seamlessly during routine port operations, vessels consistently perform at peak hydrodynamic efficiency.

This model fundamentally resets the cost equation for commercial vessel operators.

Hull Cleaning: The Ultimate Grey And Boring Business

NAHO leverages the real operating cadence of oceangoing vessels—roughly half their time steaming and half in port—to intervene precisely where value can be captured. Many commercial fleets operate on schedules that circulate vessels through the same ports. NAHO embeds itself directly and seamlessly into these recurring patterns.

NAHO reduces days out of service, lowers fuel consumption, minimizes heavy maintenance events, and materially cuts carbon emissions—turning the hull maintenance aspect of ship husbandry from a "necessary evil” into a strategic management tool.

The strategic advantages of the NAHO service and business model enables excellent margins at high service levels. That is our recipe for a successful business (grey and boring as it may be).
